The hardest thing going into this was showing how much the University has done, without the film feeling bloated and slow.
To get around this we worked to build a very fast, text and image based film packed with personality. This would allow use to give “headlines” of different things the University has done, without going into too much detail.
Kinetic typography, sound deign and fast imagery combined with a fun, informative film that leaves the viewer wanting to find out more about the University and its projects.
We script was created to be the opposite to what you’d expect from an academic film. it has attitude and didn't take itself too seriously. An approach the University were happy to try and it certainly worked out.
BRIEF
The university of Birmingham has a world renowned science and technology arm, where you can find staff and students alike pushing boundaries across multiple disciplines.
Though well known to the people on the inside, UoB wanted to create a dynamic piece of film that would showcase their talent to the world.
As a core viewership of this film would not be as familiar with Birmingham, it was also vitally important that we sell the city alongside the University.
